Last Fall, a former client contacted us with an idea. Inspired by his experiences in the Merakey Gateway Ink Summer Camp, this entrepreneurial individual immediately knew what he wanted to do: Sell his unique designs to a wider audience! And that’s exactly what he did. The print shop staff met with Bo to discuss his design and the vision he had for printing it on shirts. We selected a variety of shirts together in all sizes and chose a fun, glittery red ink for the holidays. After just a couple of hours printing, he had enough shirts produced to stock his own booth at our local seasonal arts market. The mission of Gateway Ink isn’t to necessarily train a new generation of screen printers but to provide an avenue to gain work experience and needed vocational skills in preparation for what our clients do want to dedicate their time to in the future. Bo, however, showed us that our mission can be brought full circle in the most obvious ways too!
